Crisis Directors
Director
Petar Petrov. Degree: 3rd Year Philosophy, Politics & Economics (BS).
Northeastern University London

Dear delegates, dictators, dissidents and democratic dreamers... My name's Petar and I'll be your crisis director at GlasMUN 2025. I've been a part of MUN for the past six years (I know, I know, I should be retiring, but those things take time...) during which I've seen nearly every type of committee under the sun. Of those, I have to say that I love crisis the most. It is one of the few committees that not only lets you debate, collaborate and write resolutions (or shut down said debate) but lets you see the real-time consequences of your actions; something which I feel traditional MUN lacks in. Keep that in mind in the upcoming crisis. When I'm not busy researching the extent of Allen Dulles' involvement in Latin America, or sitting in yet another meeting for my SU work, I enjoy cooking, writing, exploring cities and the countryside, or solving escape rooms. I am also studying for a degree. Allegedly. I am very excited to see you all at GlasMUN and observe how you navigate the influence of two world superpowers. Good luck!
Assistant Crisis Director: Laura O'Riordan
Degree: 2nd Year Politics and International Relations
School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS)

Hi, I'm Laura. I’m originally from New York, but was raised in Ireland. I’m currently a second-year Politics and International Relations student at SOAS. My experience includes a diverse background in leadership and international engagement, having worked as an Erasmus+ coordinator in Spain and using theatre as the educational tool to address social issues. My advice is to know your character inside out, know your study guide even better, and be creative. Working together always gets better results than working alone.

Degree: 1st Year Economics MA(SocSci)

Hi, I’m Mohammad. I am a Kuwaiti student currently studying Economics at UofG. I have four years of MUN and this will be my first chairing experience at a University level. History is one of my favorite subjects so I am looking forward to chairing this committee and diving deep into the world of the Cold War with you all.
A word of advice from me would be that if you feel overwhelmed, think about your next holiday or time off and the world will carry you there all the way.

Hi I’m Arya, I am a second-year Politics and International Relations student at the University of Manchester. My first crisis was an ad hoc committee, which like many crises, had study guides only provided on the day of the conference! They say once you start MUN, you never leave, and that is particularly true for crises. True enough, I have been roped into countless hours of drafting hilarious character guides and replying to exceedingly long directives.
I hope that as a chair I can convince more delegates to go down the rabbit hole of crisis (just watch out for the Cheshire cat).
A word of advice from a seasoned backroomer: do not ignore frontroom debate, this lets the backroomers breathe a little :P.

Hello, I’m Lana! I am an exchange student from France discovering MUN and loving it! I have aspirations to work in the field of international relations and being involved in GlasMUN helps me a lot. Outside of debating, I like to sing, crochet, read and play video games. I also work in childcare and teach French. I am queer, neurodivergent and French and believe everyone is welcome to MUN <3.

My advice to delegates is to make the most of your conference, interact with people and you may end up creating long-lasting friendships!
Hi everyone I am Anika. It is a pleasure to be a part of GlasMUN yet again and I can’t wait for the conference to begin. Outside MUN, I love travelling and often get lost in Art Galleries and Museums, and am often immersed in literature or poetry at the library. My journey as a Model UN enthusiast took a transformative turn when I began chairing after multiple conferences as a delegate. I am currently pursuing a master’s in law at the University of Law and I am looking forward to meeting the young changemakers as the delegates in this amazing conference!
My advice is for you to be yourself, Because there's only one you. Your insights will change the world someday!

Hi, I’m Sydney, a first-year student from St. Paul, Minnesota. My interests include foreign languages, European history, and side quests! I am a part of the mountaineering and cycling societies and can always be found somewhere in the Gilbert Scott Building, library, or a random highland village.
My advice is to have fun in your roles and take advantage of the experience and immersive weekend.

Hi everyone, my name is Alex and I am from Georgia. I am one of the backroomers for this really captivating crisis (I am a big Cold War history enjoyer). Besides history, I am really interested in politics and economics (quite unsurprisingly for a person enjoying doing MUN). Finally, from my other hobbies, I do fencing. I have been doing MUN for almost five years, both as a delegate and as an organiser. I am really glad to be working with such an amazing team. I hope that we will be able to make this conference an unforgettable experience for our crisis committee delegates. As with the GA conferences, try to really engage with the historical figure you have been assigned. It will make the crisis much more fun and engaging.

Hello! I am Simran, a second year student doing business and management. I have always been interested in IR and politics so I was very honoured to be invited to be a backroomer at GlasMUN. My word of advice is that you should always speak up and let yourself be heard, as this opportunity is not to be missed. Don’t worry about anything or let anyone get you down; let yourself shine.
