Big Ben

House of Commons is known as a special committee. Instead of delegates representing countries, they represent MPs sitting in parliament. This changes multiple aspects of Model UN.

RoP Changes

Major RoP changes:

  • Voting involves a lot more shouting, physically dividing and counting heads.

  • PMQs allow delegates to grill the Prime Minister on the debate topics

  • The resolution to a topic is submitted by the government.

  • Motions of No Confidence in the government can occur, resulting in an election!

Meet the Chairs!

Head Chair: Kyle McGettigan

Degree: Postgrad, previously studied a PGDE (Primary Education).

University of Glasgow/Dundee

Hi I’m Kyle, I am a postgrad student with an undergrad in History, Politics and International Relations . I have a keen interest in politics with a specific obsession over British parliamentary politics. I have previously attended ScotMUN and GlasMUN, having chaired the House of Commons at both. In 2022, I also won best delegate at ScotMun in the House of Commons Committee representing Caroline Lucas. My advice is for you to lose yourself in your MP! Three years later and I still wake in the middle of the night thinking I am Caroline Lucas. I can’t wait for you all to experience the wacky and wonderful world of British politics with its century of traditions, as well as the completely absurd events that take place within the committee. This will be my last major MUN event, so I plan on making it a memorable one!

Hi, I'm Sean, I’m from Glasgow and I study History, specialising in the impact of strategic bombing during WW2. My main passions in life include football, Formula One, animal welfare and following the current trials and tribulations of politics and world affairs.

My advice to delegates is: don’t be afraid to speak! It can feel very daunting talking in front of a large group of people but try and push through any nagging doubts you have in the back of your mind!
